Whenever I need a Domain name I by it from my self. A .com Domain cost me 7$, so you see selling it for 1.99$ means losing money, so nobody is doing that unless they make money on something else. The best thing you can do is therefore to make money on your self, that way you get your Domains and Hosting as cheap as you can and you can with a little effort even make money by selling to other people.
